Weekly Trend Spotting

Prezi is a cloud-based presentation software that gives your slideshows the edge they so desperately need. The zoomable canvas makes your presentation come to life, allowing you to present information in a fun and dynamic way. The result: visually captivating presentations that lead your audience down a path of discovery. The best thing is that anyone can use it. I am dying to use this for my next presentation.

Here's an example of a presentation done in Prezi:

Weekly Trend Spotting

Hi all,
I was surfing the web for some design inspiration and came across some great tutorials for twitter pages. I've noticed that more and more people are customizing their twitter pages so I thought I'd share some resources with you on the subject. Read Mashable's article on twitter customization and branding. Use these tutorials to help you customize your twitter page:

Snippets of Summer

Hi all,

Hope you are having an awesome weekend! Last Saturday I had the opportunity to customize TOMS shoes at a STYLE YOUR SOLE event. It was kinda stressful working as quickly as possible while customers watched you work.  But I survived and I'm excited to think that people are walking around town with my designs on their shoes. It's AWESOME! I didn't really have time to take photos of all the shoes I painted, but here's are the 2 most popular designs:

Anchor Design for TOMS shoes by Kelly Ward

This weekend, I'm working on a wedding invitation design for my friends Corbett & Richie. Here's my inspiration for the design:

That's all for now.
Enjoy your weekend,

Wrapping Up 2011

Hi,
So I noticed it's been quite a long time since my last post. Sorry about that! What can I say, life gets pretty busy sometimes, right?  So lets fill you in on the highlights!

I worked as a graphic design intern last fall for a sports marketing company that kept me super busy until Christmas time but I loved every bit of it, from the awesome grey cubicle they set me up in to the Friday morning Dunkin' Donuts coffee and bagels. Oh, and the best thing was getting to design printed advertizing and marketing materials that would be seen across the country. It was such great exposure and I had a blast working with the sales team. I think the best part would have to be when they offered me a full time position!

I also did a bit of traveling during the Christmas break. My brother Shaun, visited from Australia in December and wanted to visit NY so we spent 4 wonderful, but very chilly days in the Big Apple. I loved the MET Museum! It took us an entire day to tour all the exhibits but I when we finally entered a room with paintings by Monet, Van Gogh, Edward Hopper and J. M. W. Turner, I was on cloud nine! Shaun didn't really share my excitement but at least he was patient enough to let me linger.

Me in my element, trying to play it cool.
My brother almost falling asleep.

We loved walking across the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset and seeing the city at night from the top of the Empire State Building. We did so much and there was tones more we didn't get to see, but I'm sure there will be a NY Trip 2.0 in the future.

I have to get to my next meeting, so that's all for now.

I'll be back though, promise;)

Graphic Design

Hi friends,
I got some great feedback from people who saw the banner up at the "Get Active" event. It was the perfect day for it and we all had a lot of fun! What's even more exciting is when more work springs up from the exposure your work gets. I have two new graphic design jobs to keep me very busy for the next 2 months. Praise the Lord! Below is a giant poster for the 'Zumba with China' advertising campaign that will be displayed inside the entrance to Wild Bill's.

Big Banner

Hi all,
While I am waiting to find out the release date of "The Fox and the Young Rooster," I thought I'd post my latest work on the Graphic Design side. This outdoor banner which is actually 3' x 8' was designed for the Get Active  event at the Suwanee Town Center this weekend. The design esthetics that my client wanted was "fun," "colorful" and "eye-catching."

Springmingle!

Hi,
So this weekend is the annual Springmingle for the Children's Book Writers and Illustrators Guild. I am so excited and nervous about the critique segment but am looking forward to all the workshops and just being able to network. I will have my portfolio on display for all participants to see and hopefully get some good feedback from professionals. I have also submitted the first few pages of the book I'm illustrating to the First Pages Panel for discussion. I am very excited about this opportunity because I feel like any input is valuable even if they end up butchering it, I'm sure it will still be worth it.
Below is a new illustration for a future book and will be included in my portfolio.

Watch this Space

Hello,
so far the children's book is making some wonderful progress. However, after the first 14 illustrations, I'm getting a little tired and mostly just impatient and decided to take a little break and work on some invitations for PaperStyle.com. I have been designing for them for almost 4 months now and am amazed at how friendly and helpful they are to me. I designed a  St. Pattys Day Invitations set and also the Jester Stripe Mardis Gras Invitations which you can order through the website. It is a quick and easy process and they can ship it to you super fast. I had a lot of fun making them and playing with colors and patterns. You can check out more of my designs here!
 Have a good weekend!
